Top 10 Fall Tours 2011

Portishead (10/1/11-10/27/11) is an electronic music sensation that will be touring in the US for the first time since 1998. With hauntingly beautiful vocals and powerful trip hop beats, their shows will surely not disappoint and who is to say when they will next return?

(10/27/11-11/21/11) are a legendary rock band that reunited in 2004. On this tour they will be performing a fan favorite album, Doolittle, in it’s entirety. If this weren’t enough, they will be playing most shows with either Imaginary Cities or up and coming surf rock band Surfer Blood.

(9/21/11-11/13/11) are touring to promote their recently released album, The Rip Tide. Beirut has quickly gained a following of loyal and enthusiastic listeners both young and old with their unique baroque pop style. The album has been widely praised and the shows should be a memorable experience.

Jay-Z and Kanye West
(10/28/11- 12/12/11) are touring together under the name “the Throne” to promote their new collaborative album Watch the Throne. Those who purchase tickets will receive a free copy of the new album. Kanye West and Jay-Z are both acclaimed hip hop artists. Kanye West has had all 5 of his solo albums go platinum. Jay-Z has sold over 500 million albums worldwide and received 13 Grammy Awards.

Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance
(8/5/11-10/15/11) join forces in the Honda Civic Tour complete with special guests Rancid, Manchester Orchestra, and Matt & Kim. Blink 182 is a California-based pop punk/ rock band who has sold over 27 million albums worldwide. My Chemical Romance is another popular pop punk/ rock band who has seen worldwide success. Go see both bands at one show!

Chris Brown
(9/14/11-10/30/11) is touring to promote his new album FAME with special guests Kelly Rowland, T-Pain, and Tyga. He will also play some shows with Young Jeezy and DJ Khaled. Chris Brown is an R&B artist whose skillful dance routines have been compared to Michael Jackson, which should make for a fun show to watch.

The Rapture
(9/22/11-10/21/11) is a NYC based dance punk band who are touring to promote their new album In the Grace of Your Love. The band will be playing with former Q and not U member, Harris Klahr, on bass. The Rapture shows are full of contagious energy, resulting in a crowd of young listeners dancing in spite of their own reservations.

Foo Fighters
(9/14/11-11/6/11) are still thrilling audiences, no mater how large the venue, with their catchy but moving rock music. They were recently in the news for their antics playing an impromptu set in cowboy hats, long wigs and fake moustaches to a set of protestors picketing outside their show. Hopefully their upcoming concerts will contain elements of this same humor.

Taylor Swift
(9/24/11-11/22/11) is a country music singer whose most recent album, Speak Now, made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest selling digital album by a female artist. Check out what all the fuss is about, if you don’t already know.

(9/23/11-12/31/11) makes a type of electronic music known as ‘complextro’ with heavy bass beats and the sporadic interjection of samples. His shows are selling out quickly across the US. The young musician told SPIN magazine that this fall tour will include innovative visual experiences for the audience such as the projection of images that are being controlled by Skrillex himself.
