Everyone knows that the increased popularity of downloading music means a decrease in album sales. But what does that mean for the average artist who puts out an album? Billboard has a cool article on the business of selling albums in 2010 here. Amongst the more interesting tidbits: of the 97,171 albums released last year only 2,050 sold over 5,000 copies. Apparently, though seemingly within reach, selling 5,000 copies is very difficult to accomplish.
