In a collaboration presumably inspired by an article in The Onion, CMJ is teaming up with theme park giant Six Flags for the 2010 CMJ Festival in New York. “CMJ has always been recognized for its discovery and support of the best new music. Six Flags’ concert series has delivered cutting-edge concerts to an audience seeking the latest in emerging music,” says festival founder and executive producer Joanne Abbot Greee of the unintentionally self-parodying partnership. Strangely enough, Six Flags filed for bankruptcy in 2008 after the price of their stock fell below the New York Stock Exchange minimum. Overall, the move does little to improve the standing of a festival that had already lost much of its luster. Hopefully, there’ll be some sweet rides.
