Free music downloads are ostensibly the direction the industry is going in. However, the exact system and method of revenue generation for free downloading is still up for debate with several models competing against each other to become the future of online distribution. Companies including SpiralFrog have gone bankrupt trying to get the formula right, and it could be a while before the correct one gets off the ground. FreeAllMusic has content from the 4 majors, and launched a limited version of their service December 22nd. Check them out here.
